Making your house look new inside does not have to cost a fortune. There are cheap and easy tricks that can make a big difference on a budget.

One way to get a lot of bang for your buck is to replace all your switch covers and outlet covers with fresh new ones. Make sure that the outlets and switches in each room are all the same color and that the covers match as well.

Another essential upgrade is new lighting fixtures. There is something for any price range and it will make a huge difference.

Touch up paint where needed and add a fresh coat to the trim. Use inexpensive moldings to create the feel of wainscoting.

Sprucing up a kitchen can be as simple as replacing or refinishing cabinet doors and drawerfronts if cabinets are still in good shape inside. Replace the countertops, shine up the sink and add a contemporary styled faucet for a great new look.

Click type laminate flooring is an inexpensive alternative to hardwood or tile and with a few basic tools is a quick and easy do it yourself project. It comes in a multitude of colors and finishes and is quite durable.

Bathrooms can be tricky. If there is tile, try just cleaning it and regrouting. Using a grout with a contrasting color can make old tile look new again. As long as the fixtures are in good shape, just try updating the faucets. Put on a new toilet seat and lid. Update an older medicine cabinet or mirror.

With a little imagination, your house can look like new on any budget.
